Re-Cap: Saturday, April 10th Slow Art Day
What A Turnout! On Saturday, April 10th 3pm to 6pm, Diversity Plaza was excited to be the only NYC location participating with art spaces worldwide for the eleventh annual “Slow Art Day”.
RDRC Community Partner, Friends of Diversity Plaza 37th Road, recipient of the NYC Green Relief & Recovery Fund, administered via City Parks Foundation, to activate, and create art/culture, friendly activities in Open Space.
Art spaces around the country moreover the world will participate on Saturday, April 10th, for the eleventh annual Slow Art Day. Slow Art Day is a global event with a simple mission: help more people discover for themselves the joy of looking at and loving art.
Participants enjoyed viewing five works of art for 10 minutes each and then meeting together at lunch that evening, and discussed their experience. Simple by design, the goal was to focus on the art and the art of seeing. Slow Art Day works best when people look at the art on their own slowly and then meet up to discuss the experience.
Diversity Plaza in Jackson Heights is proud to be the only NYC location to be presenting Slow Art Day. Other venues on the east coast of the US include Mass MoCA in North Adams, MA, The National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington DC and The Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, NJ. A full list of venues is here.
Join us, you all are invited to come to the Plaza and view a small number of works on their own, followed by a group discussion of the viewing experience. The Group chose the outdoor space, a well-ventilated venue where social distancing is easy to maintain and is accessible to the community of one of the most diverse zip codes on the planet.
