Congratulate Winners: RDRC & Friends “1st Annual Youth Sponsored Children’s Art Challenge”
During the Holiday’s RDRC, PSEG, and National Grid launched the “Youth Sponsored Children’s Arts Challenge” delivering art supplies to several local schools as a part of the initiative to bringing art and culture to the Rockaway community, as arts and culture promote social and economic opportunities, improving the quality of life. The youth were encouraged to use their talents to create artwork that would be displayed on our website, in our office, and our social media platforms.
Also, RDRC extended the program to February, in honor of Black History Month, “Expressing Yourself Through Art”. The following schools participated: David Robins, Principal of PS/MS 43, and Karen Jones, Principal of Peninsula Preparatory Prep.
Join us in Congratulating Winners:
Radiana Esmil/London Smith from PS/MS 43 – “Love, Peace, Hope”, and Abigail Cameron, of Peninsula Preparatory Prep., “Black Lives Matter”
Art helps children learn and practice skills like patterning and cause and effect, also, art contributes to the practice of critical thinking skills by making a mental plan or picture of what children intend to create and following through on their plan.
If you would be interested in partnering with us in encouraging wellness through arts to the Rockaway children, please feel free to contact RDRC at 718.327.5300 – Mon-Fri. 9am to 5pm.
