FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE SEPTEMBER 16, 2020
QUEENS, N.Y. (September 16, 2020) – The Rockaway Development & Revitalization Corporation (RDRC) is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Local Initiatives Support Corporation of New York City (LISC) to assist Rockaways businesses impacted by COVID-19. The LISC Small Business Relief & Recovery Fund will award grants of up $10,000 to minority-owned small businesses in response to their needs to successfully retool and adapt to new guidelines and a changing marketplace, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The RDRC Rockaways Business Resource Center Team will help business owners apply for funds, provide additional technical assistance and training to help them sustain their businesses. RDRC is one of 16 community-based organizations partnering with LISC NYC on this initiative and will be available to assist businesses remotely or in person by appointment only. RDRC staff will be preparing applicants for the next round of funding (LISC Round 2) from Monday, October 19th through Friday, November 6th.
“We are grateful to LISC for recognizing RDRC as one of only 16 community-based organizations selected citywide to assist minority-owned businesses that are struggling to open or remain open because of the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to providing grant and technical assistance opportunities for struggling Rockaways businesses, this strategic partnership will enable us to leverage existing resources already in place with a multi-year Neighborhood 360 Commercial Revitalization Grant focused on business retention and technical assistance from the New York City Small Business Services” stated Kevin Alexander, President & CEO of Rockaway Development & Revitalization Corporation.
Rockaways business owners seeking to apply for grant funds must receive assistance from and apply through RDRC in order to submit their applications. If you are a small business interested in applying for grant funding, please contact Victoria Stukes, Project Manager, Rockaways Business Resource Center at 718.327.5300 or ehelpdesk@rdrc.org.
