In-School Youth

In School Youth

RDRC’s In-School Youth Program gives students in the Far Rockaway educational Campus the chance to become well-rounded individuals by balancing their academics and employment.  Funded by the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development, the program is offered to high school juniors and seniors.  RDRC currently provides services to over 60 youths annually.  They participate in weekly work readiness workshops, attend college fairs, resource sessions, and RDRC’s annual free of charge three day out of state college tour.

In addition to empowering youth academically the program provides a forum to support parents and families with wrap-around supportive services and employment, housing and healthcare referrals.  To further support participant outcomes, parents meet once a month for varied workshops via Parents as Partner Workshops.  Parent/participant issues are further addressed in monthly Parent Advisory meetings. ISY enrolled participants that complete program requirements successfully, 250 hours of program activities, are automatically enrolled in the Summer Internship Program (SIP).
