Access to Healthy Produce

Access to Healthy Produce

healthy-produce

The New York Community Trust and RDRC have partnered to increase access to healthy foods available to local families by investing in the expansion of the Edgemere Urban Farm operated by Bedstuy Campaign Against Hunger and the Arverne Market operated by Rockaway Youth Task Force. Our goal is to increase the capacity of local groups to grow more produce and distribute the harvested produce to local grocers, restaurants, hospitals, nursing homes, day care center and schools. RDRC in collaboration with Cornell University Cooperative and Bedstuy Campaign Against Hunger will also provide healthy foods workshops and food preparation demonstrations to community groups, parent associations and tenant associations where access to healthy foods has been traditionally ignored.
